Our Focus

In last few years, the growth of BioSciences industry in Indian is quite heartwarming but the same cannot be said about our human resource, critical for long term sustenance. A discord exists between industry expectations and the currently available talent. We at AbhayJere.com & BSFIndia will address this bottleneck by working on the following aspects :

ü Creating better awareness about the opportunities

ü More hand-on training

ü Biotech curricula normalization

ü Facilitating industry-academia partnerships

Creating better awareness about the opportunities

As Biosciences field is very dynamic, large sections of young professionals hardly have visibility on emerging opportunities, niche areas and interdisciplinary careers.

Ø To enable better visibility, we plan to organize 'One-Day Opportunity Awareness Camp' in all major cities in India in year 2010.

Ø To start a monthly e-newsletter to analyze the changing dynamics of the field and if necessary will also make appropriate recommendations.

Hand-on training

Unlike IT courses where lab exposure is minimal, there is significant need of providing hands-on training for Biosciences professionals. Unfortunately, large numbers of educational institutions are still surviving with not up to the par infrastructure and are imparting any practical training to the students.

Ø We plan to organize 'Hands-on Training Sessions' at extremely affordable prices by collaborating with various industrial houses and research institutions.

Ø Institute a fair and independent 'Ranking System' for educational institutions for better visibility in academic course selection and decision making.

Biotech curricula normalization

Unlike other technical sectors, which has an organized syllabus and adequate lab training, Biotechnology curricula is still in its nascence. Due to inadequate exposure, many educational institutions are offering biotech courses that are not properly structured.

Ø Soon, we will publish a White Paper to highlight the inadequacies and deficiencies in course curricula along with the recommendations.

Ø We plan to offer services to educational institutions for normalization of their course structure.

Facilitating industry-academia partnerships

In the last two decades a new entity called University-Industry Research Center or UIRC has emerged in various foreign universities. UIRCs have research groups which focus on problems relevant for the industry.

Ø In 2010, our major focus will be to identify key pain areas in the field of Biosciences and promote disruptive innovations via industry-academia partnership.
